The
Sermon is an explosive,
high-energy rock and roll band,
known throughout the San Francisco
Bay Area for a devastating live
show. Harnessing equal parts menace
and soul, The Sermon sound has been described as a “head-on
collision of over-amped R&B
and fuzz-fueled garage punk”. The Sermon released
their debut lp/cd, Volumee,
on Jello Biafra's Alternative
Tentacles label in the
fall of 2004. Over the years they
have shared the stage with such
bands as Mudhoney, The Dirtbombs,
The Avengers, Rocket from the Tombs,
Dead Moon, Comets on Fire, The Kills,
Von Bondies and The Black Lips,
to name a few. The
Sermon have recently recorded
a second album, Articles of War, with producer/engineer Marco Martin (Morissey,
Tony Visconti), which features guest
appearances by Penelope Houston (The Avengers) and Kelley Stoltz (Sub Pop).
